Fall foliage lovers, get ready! Fall is quickly arriving, with its promises of crisp, cool weather, an abundance of pumpkin-flavored products, crunchy leaves, and a huge selection of seasonal goods at your neighborhood Trader Joe’s.
Although Trader Joe’s sells a wide variety of year-round groceries, it regularly rotates its selection of food and beverages to showcase the greatest flavors of the season. Fall 2023 will be no different.
This week, marketing experts Tara Miller and Matt Sloan, who present the Inside Trader Joe’s podcast, unveiled a selection of the most intriguing products that will be available in stores this fall. This includes some brand-new products that customers will be able to try for the first time, as well as some returning items that customers have already come to appreciate.
Note that Miller and Sloan did not cover every fall product that consumers can purchase this year; therefore, it is worthwhile to check your neighborhood Trader Joe’s for any other intriguing fall things that are now on sale.
These are the 19 food items from the most recent Inside Trader Joe’s show that are new or returning.
Tiny Marshmallows with Maple Flavor
These Mini Maple-Flavored Marshmallows are a new vegan offering at Trader Joe’s that offer a fall twist on a classic marshmallow. Miller and Sloan proposed topping a cup of hot cocoa with them or making crispy rice treats with them in place of conventional marshmallows. This item is limited to a brief period of time; it was first available in stores in early September.
Bourbon Vanilla Extract Double Fold
The newly released Double Fold Bourbon Vanilla Extract is a more flavored, potent variation of the classic baking ingredient, not to be mistaken with Trader Joe’s Organic Pure Bourbon Vanilla Extract. This extract is made by Trader Joe’s supplier using double the amount of vanilla and fortified with real vanilla bean seeds. The new vanilla extract is already available at Trader Joe’s stores in 3.55-ounce bottles. It will only be offered while supplies remain and for a short period of time.
Delightful Little Chocolate Bars
Trader Joe’s is finally releasing its own Halloween candy variety, a product of years of fan requests. There are four flavors available in 24-piece packs of the new Wicked Good Mini Chocolate Bars: nougat, nougat & caramel, peanut & caramel, and caramel & wafer. Stores should be receiving them soon, so get as many as you can.
Cheese and Butternut Squash Macaroni
To the joy of customers, Trader Joe’s most popular and often requested fall dish, butternut squash mac and cheese, returned to the stores last week. Miller stated that they had no idea the product would become as popular as it has when it was initially released in 2017. According to Sloan, Trader Joe’s is striving to produce more packets of the well-liked product than ever before in 2023 in order to satisfy the strong demand.
Organic Vermont Maple Syrup Aged in Bourbon Barrels
This isn’t your typical maple syrup—this product is being returned. Though it doesn’t include any alcohol, the Organic Bourbon Barrel matured Vermont Maple Syrup does have some bourbon undertones from the repurposed barrels it’s matured in. Pour it over a stack of pancakes, or do as Sloan and Miller did and use it as a glaze for ham or to drizzle over vanilla ice cream. The product has already been placed on Trader Joe’s shelves.
Harvest Season Salsa
This resurrected staple is a festive take on a traditional salsa for fall. The Fall Harvest Salsa has chopped delicious apples, diced butternut squash, jalapeños, honey-roasted pumpkin chunks, chopped tomatillos, vinegar, and lime instead of tomatoes. Miller and Sloan recommended dipping it in chips or, for a more inventive twist, sprinkling it over fish or pork tenderloin.
Gluten-Free Ravioli with Pumpkin
Every fall, Trader Joe’s has been selling the traditional Pumpkin Ravioli; but, this year, the store is also providing a gluten-free version. The new Gluten Free Pumpkin Ravioli is made with kabocha squash, pumpkin purée, three cheeses, honey, brown sugar, and various fall spices all wrapped up in gluten-free pasta. This choice, according to Miller, would be appealing to clients who want “a more savory take on a pumpkin ravioli.”
Pear and Honeycrisp Granola
Apples are the main component in many of the classic fall recipes, such as apple cider donuts and apple pie. The new Honeycrisp Apple Granola from Trader Joe’s deviates from the classic fall apple sweets by utilizing the fruit. Rolled oats, honey, molasses, dried Honeycrisp apple slices, cane sugar, and a variety of fall spices are all included in this item. Although it has already been seen in stores, this item is only available while supplies last.
Caramelized Fudge
Though it’s new at Trader Joe’s, maple-flavored fudge isn’t exactly a novel invention! These treats are made by an English supplier with sugar, maple syrup, sweetened condensed milk, and salted butter, all of which are cooked in conventional copper pans. To counterbalance the sweetness of the fudge, the podcast hosts recommended serving it with a salty snack. Stores have already identified this limited edition item.
Trio of Cinnamon Sugar Toffee
This latest candy with a fall theme was created by the same source who makes Trader Joe’s English Toffee. The Cinnamon Sugar Toffee Trio consists of crispy, buttery toffee bits coated in white, dark, or milk chocolate and dusted with cinnamon. It’s like a “snickerdoodle take on a toffee candy,” according to Sloan. The podcast hosts did not specify when the product will be available in stores, so be sure to watch for its release!
Dozen Little Ginger Pumpkin Scones
This new item can be found at your local Trader Joe’s in the frozen department instead of the baked goods section. The flavors of the 12 Mini Pumpkin Ginger Scones are derived from crystallized ginger and pumpkin purée. When you have a yearning for a delicious fall baked item, you can simply throw a few into the oven because they arrive ready to bake. Trader Joe’s has already begun stocking this limited edition item.
Kit for Avocado Ranch Salad
There’s a new salad in the Trader Joe’s chilled section. According to Sloan, the Avocado Ranch Salad kit comes with chopped vegetables, corn chips, cheese cheese, “crunchy bits,” and an avocado ranch dressing. Although the salad is delicious on its own, the podcast hosts recommended adding chicken, beef, or even tofu to make it a complete meal.
Completely Sugar-Coated Cookie Dough
With the launch of their new All-Butter Sugar Cookie Dough, Trader Joe’s is keeping things basic. Miller claims that since the components are minimal—just flour, sugar, butter, water, eggs, vanilla bean, extract, leavening, and sea salt—it tastes a lot like something you could make at home. Stores ought to be stocking this limited edition item shortly.
Dip with Asiago Cheese and Garlic
This new dip from Trader Joe’s is actually meant to be savored hot, as contrast to the many other dips that are meant to be enjoyed cold. Miller referred to it as “delightfully cheesy,” and Sloan described it as having “all the goodness of garlic bread as a dip.” It will be available in stores by the end of September.
Hazelnut and chocolate ground coffee
The new Chocolate Hazelnut Ground Coffee might be just what you’re looking for if you’re yearning a hot cup of coffee to go with one of your seasonal Trader Joe’s delights. The supplier purchases only 100% Arabica coffee beans from a well-known Brazilian coffee-growing region. After giving the beans a mild roast, they are naturally flavored with hazelnut and chocolate oils. Stores have already begun to receive the new coffee.
Jalapeño Cheese Dip with Roasted Hatch Chili
The new Roasted Hatch Chili and Jalapeño Cheese Dip is meant to be served hot, just like the Garlic and Asiago Cheese Dip. Both Miller and Sloan claimed that the dip was not unduly spicy, despite having chopped and sliced jalapeños throughout. Early to mid-October is when this item is expected to arrive in stores.
Haunted Gummies
For the autumn of 2023, Trader Joe’s Halloween Gummies will be available again following a multi-year break owing to production problems. Miller characterized them as flavorful, juicy, and soft. The hosts did not specify when one can anticipate seeing the Halloween Gummies restocked on shelves, but since Halloween is just a month away, it probably won’t be too long.
Maple Vinaigrette Dressing Made Naturally
The Organic Maple Vinaigrette Dressing is back, offering customers a savory twist on the traditional fall maple flavors. This vinaigrette is sweet, salty, and incredibly adaptable. It is made with apple cider vinegar, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, orange juice, and a tiny bit of organic maple syrup. Sloan emphasized the dressing’s adaptability, stating that it’s excellent as a marinade or as a way to enhance the flavor of a stir fry.
All-natural Clove Powder
This cozy fall spice is already a staple in many of Trader Joe’s seasonal offerings, but you can also pick up a jar for your own baking needs this year. Although ground cloves are always accessible at most large grocery stores, Trader Joe’s Organic Clove Powder is only offered during specific seasons.
Any interested consumers should keep a look out for the Organic Clove Powder during their next Trader Joe’s run as the podcast hosts did not specify whether it was currently available in shops.
